Why boycott items made in China?
China free presents
Chinese Child Laborers
Child Labor information
I have heard people talk about boycotting products made in China. And I have heard Hanna ask, "Why does everything say 'Made in China'?". Then I was listenting to 107.9 the Link this morning. They were talking about sites that had China free presents. And for some reason I was moved. I began to think about the poor children at my school. And I began to think about how their lives do not even compare to some of the lives of those children that were "lucky" even to be born in China. I already bought Hanna's Christmas presents this year, but I want to make buying China free items a part of my life. Yes, I am only one person, but it feels good to know that it might make a difference. We are also doing a present free Christmas this year with my family. However, Hanna and I have been working on the project Christmas Child through her school, giving to our Compassion child and finding little things to give some children that we know will not have much this christmas.
Hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas Season!

Jes, I had missed a couple of your posts while I was flying back home to Hawaii but I have to say I'm so proud to be your sister. Of course I always am but your posts touch me with your passion to dig deep into life and to make it count for much more than just living. I need to focus more on my little Compassion girl and others in need...I am sad for China and hope there is some way, one day we can do more to help...especially the children. I love you so much!
I also love the picture of Hanna with her eyes closed...for some reason it moves me. Precious Hanna.
Love you! I think this is going to be something that I constantly have to remind myself to look for "made in China", because I just got Hanna some books at her school from the book fair. Then we got in the car and Hanna said again, "This is made in China. Why is everything made in China?" Yikes! I was so disappointed in myself. . . I must look at everything even books. Man, it does feel like everything is made in China.
That was me, Jes. I didn't realize that ash was logged in. oops
I'm with Hanna, it seems everything comes from China. I tried to buy some gifts for two little boys, and everything I saw was made in China. They wanted Spiderman stuff and I gave up. I decided to give the money and let someone else buy the gifts. I felt so defeated. I love that you all are trying to make a difference. I can't imagine what the world would be like if we all, in our own little ways tried to make a difference. Love you!
The more we shop, the more I save b/c even things that I never expected are marked "Made in China" . . . but Hanna is helping look also.
Yes, I'm in total agreement except you put it in such better phrasing than I do. I searched and searched for a push and ride toy for Will for his birthday that was not made in china, even the store people didn't know where to find one. I finally found it, Little Tikes, a nice little Canadian company where I feel so much better that little people aren't being abused and underpaid and that there is no lead paint.
Way to go Jess and Hanna, that's so sweet that you guys are doing that together for someone. Tell Hanna that Will is really getting good at dancing, for real now.
